The Production Centre, London has returned to producing the studio wrap around show for the Indonesian broadcaster Mola TV who has acquired the English Premier League rights for their territory.

The Gravity Media team at The Production Centre, London produces their studio wrap around show around a selection of live games throughout the Premier League season with socially distant arrangements in place.

Mola TV’s first studio show post lockdown went live on Sunday 21 June for the Aston Villa v Chelsea football match. MOLA TV continues with a bumper month counting five Premier League fixtures scheduled for this month including the Manchester City v Liverpool and the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal.

Under the agreement, Gravity Media provides the studio, gallery and staff to produce the coverage, which will feature matches on both Saturdays and Sundays, and possibly feature consecutive games back-to-back depending on the fixtures.

Gravity Media has installed a video wall which allows a live feed of a beauty camera from different grounds to be displayed behind the studio guests, making it easy to switch locations when presenting double-headers from different stadiums.

With UHD quality and minimal bezel space showing, this solution is ready for Mola TV week in week out whichever match they choose to follow.

2020 Pakistan Super League (also known as the HBL PSL 2020) was the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. It took place between 20 February 2020 and 15 March 2020 and was held entirely in Pakistan for the first time.

The tournament consisted of 34 matches held across 26 days in four different venues in Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore. It was the largest sports TV broadcast in the history of Pakistan sport, with a tier one international crew of the best talent sourced from all around the world. There were over 150 people involved in the broadcast utilising two Flypacks – including one of Gravity Media’s state-of-the-art cricket Flypacks – weighing over 20 tonnes which were brought into Pakistan from the UK and Australia. The Flypacks were rigged and de-rigged across the four venues – with some locations over a 1000km drive apart. The set-up involved a total of 64 cameras including drones, Hawk-Eye and Spidercam.

Coverage of the tournament included live pre- and post-game studio shows for each match of the PSL and Steve Norris of Gravity Media was the Executive Producer of the event working on behalf of Sportzworkz TV.

The knockout stage of the tournament was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The PCB is looking at whether to declare the winner of the tournament based on the league standings, or to play the matches at a later date.

The Gearhouse Broadcast France team were at the FINA World Championships in South Korea, where two RF technicians were onsite supplying six wireless systems.

Gwangju 2019 is the 18th edition of the Championships, where World titles are being contested across all of the aquatic disciplines: swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming and open water swimming. Before anyone had even dipped a toe in the water, records started to fall, as more athletes from more countries than ever before are competing at the event.

The 2,500 swimmers representing 194 nations will be going toe to toe from 12 to 28 July.

ITV’s new period drama Beecham House started on Sunday 23 June at 9pm. Followed quickly by episode two on Monday 24th, the remaining four episodes will now air weekly on Sundays.

Set in Delhi at the turn of the 19th century, the drama follows the fortunes of the residents of an imposing mansion called, you guessed it, Beecham House. Tom Bateman, Lesley Nicol, Marc Warren and Leo Suter lead a huge ensemble cast that also includes Dakota Blue Richards and Grégory Fitoussi.

HyperActive provided a complete post-production solution for the series, including a shipment of Avid Media Composer systems for the location post in India.

Hitachi HD cameras equipped with Gearhouse Actis RF systems provide wireless venue coverage.

Gearhouse Broadcast a worldwide broadcast services specialist, has delivered HD production facilities for the 2014 Asian Games (XVII Asiad), which recently took place in Incheon, South Korea.

Working with Mito, for Incheon Host Broadcasting Management, Gearhouse provided complete coverage with 65 cameras across five venues hosting a number of sports including athletics, cricket and badminton. It also supplied 31 super slow-mo camera channels and 50 specialist and radio cameras, and sent out a 60-strong team of experts to provide on-site technical support.

This is the first major event that Gearhouse has been able to call on the services of its new in-house specialist RF business, Gearhouse Actis, following its acquisition of the respected French company Actis HF, in July 2014 and subsequent rebranding. Through Gearhouse’s unique partnership with Hitachi, the Gearhouse Actis team were able to develop a solution prior to the Games so that the Hitachi SK-HD1200 production camera could be used wirelessly.

“Having Gearhouse Actis on board is a huge help to us both during the build-up to the Asian Games, and while on-site in Incheon,” said Edward Tischler, head of projects at Gearhouse Broadcast. “It proved a valuable resource for my projects team, and our customers at major events in the future. With their expertise on hand, we can now be much more flexible in meeting the usual RF challenges we face at events like this like the inevitable frequency changes.”

With a large amount of equipment returning from this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, Gearhouse shipped a total of 68 tons of kit to South Korea. This included 65 Hitachi cameras, 25 newly upgraded EVS systems, eight Sony MVS vision mixers, as well as multiple Snell routers and Lawo V_pro8 video processors.

Sang Ho Park, president of Mito Corpotation said, “Gearhouse has a proven track record of performing at the biggest events, and has been able to deliver various solutions to meet our broadcast needs, so it was a logical choice for us to work with them. Thanks to its relationship with Hitachi, as well as its new in-house RF offering, Gearhouse Actis, we were able to reduce the number of vendors we had to deal with, which has simplified things from our perspective.”

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event held every four years, hosting 13,000 athletes and officials from 45 Asian nations and around 7,000 media professionals. The XVII Asiad ran from 19 September to 4 October.
