Gravity Media has been supporting the coverage of this year’s Six Nations Championship across the globe. The annual international men’s rugby union competition is contested between England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.
Over the weekend, the Gravity Media team in France was on site at the Stade de France in Paris for the big France vs Ireland match.
Whilst experiencing a great victory of 30-24 for the French (Bleus), Gravity Media deployed RF technicians, RF equipment, cameras, and a lens for the broadcaster France Télévisions. Our in-house specialist team can provide high-performance UHD and HD wireless links for radio cameras, onboard and PoV cameras, and solutions to send signals over large areas with low delay.
The French victory reached an audience of seven million viewers in France, with a peak at 8.5 million. Bring on week three this coming weekend!

It’s been a busy month for the Gravity Media broadcast equipment rental teams in the UK and France as they have been supplying numerous pieces of equipment for the recent rugby fixtures in the 2021 Autumn Nations Series.
It all kicked off when France welcomed Georgia for the international Autumn rugby fixture where the Gravity Media team was on site at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium in Bordeaux supplying the RF systems and audio equipment.
The equipment rental team in the UK then supplied three Sony HDC-2500 HD system cameras, one wide angle lens and one standard lens for the Ireland vs New Zealand fixture broadcast on Sky.
To conclude the 2021 Autumn Nations Series, the team was then on site at the Stade de France where they supplied the RF systems which marked moments in history as France claimed victory!

Ce fut un mois chargé pour les équipes Gravity Media France & Royaume-Uni car elles ont déployé de nombreux équipements pour les récents matchs de rugby de la Tournée d’Automne 2021.
Tout a commencé lors du match France – Géorgie où l’équipe de Gravity Media était mobilisée sur site, au stade Matmut Atlantique de Bordeaux, pour fournir les systèmes RF et équipement audio de la rencontre.
L’équipe Gravity Media Royaume-Uni a quant à elle fourni trois caméras Sony HDC-2500 HD, un objectif grand angle et un objectif standard pour le match Irlande – Nouvelle-Zélande, diffusé sur Sky.

To mark the England Summer Series, England hosted the USA and Canada at Twickenham Stadium in London which saw Gravity Media at the heart of both test matches.
The England rugby team was due to travel to North America this summer, however due to the global pandemic they played at their home ground.
On American Independence Day, England took on the USA followed by on Saturday 10 July, England played Canada. Both fixtures saw an attendance of 10,000 fans and the Gravity Media team oversaw the technical facilities and delivered the stadium’s big screens.

The final weekend of June saw the return of fans to Twickenham Stadium for the ultimate Premiership Rugby Final. Harlequins took home the Premiership Championship for the first time in nearly a decade, following an exhilarating game against the Exeter Chiefs.
The atmosphere was thrilling, and clubs and broadcasters delivered was has now been characterised as: ‘one of the greatest games of club rugby union every played…’
The Gravity Media team was front and centre in the action to deliver content and VTs to the stadium Big Screens and Mid-tier LED’s. The team was also onsite to oversee the technical facilities for the Saturday final and deliver this unique experience that has long been missed by fans to the sport.

London, United Kingdom, 25 June 2021 – Gravity Media – the leading global provider of complex live broadcast facilities and production services to content owners, creators and distributors has been appointed by The British & Irish Lions rugby as technical partner for the big screen production at the Vodafone Lions 1888 Cup, which takes place on 26 June at BT Murrayfield and sees the Lions’ first-ever clash with the Japanese Brave Blossoms team.
The match will see the Lions take to the field in this historic moment for the sport, which will be in front of a crowd of 16,500, the largest rugby event the UK has seen since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Gravity Media’s in-house OB Truck, Pictor, will be making the trip up to Scotland, supported by RF camera equipment and EVS from its rental department and operated by an experienced team of engineers. Gravity Media’s talented design team, previously commissioned by a wide range of leading federations such as The FA, the RFU and the ITF, will also create and operate a bespoke graphics package for the screens, utlitising the Lions’ new brand guidelines.
The Lions, along with sports presentation specialists Event360, have a number of exciting plans to engage the Murrayfield crowd as they look to mark a unique event in the rugby calendar. Gravity Media will use its production and editorial expertise to bring this entertaining vision to life and ensure those in attendance have a day to remember.
Gravity Media has a long history of delivering big screen productions, having worked with both The FA at Wembley and the RFU at Twickenham for almost a decade. Its relationship with Arsenal goes back even further, almost 30 years, having provided big the in-stadium screen production first at Highbury and now at the Emirates Stadium. Most recently, it was appointed to run the screens at the Brentford Community Stadium, a venue that will soon be hosting Premier League football following Brentford FC’s playoff success last month.

What a way to round off 2020! Another incredible game at Twickenham Stadium saw England triumph over France in the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup…It came home, and stayed home!
It’s been 265 days since fans were allowed at Twickenham stadium and, with new COVID-19 guidelines in place, the team here at Gravity Media helped deliver big screens entertainment to match the action in an incredible final. As 2,000 fans returned back to their rightful seats at Twickenham this past week, the big screens captured the full range of emotions during a tense, but phenomenal final match.
Gravity Media has a long and proud association of working on premier sports venues from the Home of England Rugby to FIFA World Cup venues and Wembley Stadium. We champion our broadcast production values and carry them through to the big screens: high quality, fast moving, and editorially strong output throughout the event.
This marks the end to the inaugural 2020 Autumn Nations Cup and, in a year like 2020, it’s definitely one to remember. With a state-of-the art onsite control room, our services brought back the matchday experience for stadium spectators – using a mix of clips, HD graphics, and a dedicated pitchside RF camera to help build the atmosphere in the stadium.
Our onsite control rooms are equipped with a versatile TriCaster production unit and a Ross Carbonite 2 ME audio mixer. Utilising the best broadcast equipment available, we supplied a pixel power Clarity Graphics generator for vibrant and eye-catching transitions and on-screen graphics throughout all four home matches at Twickenham.
The first-ever World Tens Series tournament is currently underway in Bermuda from Tuesday 24 October until Saturday 07 November 2020 where eight international privately-owned teams will be participating.
From 2021 the tournament will be expanded to include 16 teams competing in tournaments in 12 locations throughout the world.
London Royals and The Rhinos proved unbeatable on day one of the World Tens in Bermuda as both made it three wins from three.
The tournament is currently being broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN and ESPN+ for the Americas. The Gravity Media team is onsite providing one of our specialist flypacks for the rugby tournament. Over the weekend of February 29 to March 1, Gravity Media’s engineers Stephanie Matthews, Jim Duval, Tim Ash, Alex Summer and Paul Windsor were on location alongside mobile production unit Columbus at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, to cover the LA Rugby Sevens for Sunset+Vine.
Sixteen teams from around the world competed in 45 matches across the weekend, which ultimately culminated in a Fiji v South Africa final. The Blitzboks ran out eventual winners 29-24 after extra time, staging an incredible comeback after a blistering start by Fiji. The South Pacific team scored three unanswered tries in the first five minutes, but South Africa fought back to equalise in the dying seconds, and then went on to score the sudden-death try to secure the win.
