Winter Olympics Beijing 2022
The next Winter Olympic Games will take place in Beijing in February 2022. Held every four years at the midpoint between summer Olympics, the Winter Games is the world’s most popular and prestigious competition for sports practised on snow and ice. Beijing will be the first city in the world to have hosted both the summer and winter editions of the Games, where 109 events across seven sports will be held in the three competition zones of central Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou. Gravity Media played a proud role at Beijing 2008, and we’ll soon be getting our skates on for 2022 as well.
Gravity Media has supported both organisers and broadcasters at Turin 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, both the Olympics and Paralympics at PyeongChang 2018, and the Winter Youth Olympics at Lausanne 2020. Our services span the full production spectrum, from technical installations to broadcast solutions to equipment rental packages. We’ve integrated International Broadcast Centres, Technical Operations Centres and studio complexes, and our personnel have been onsite at each Games, engineering cutting-edge workflow solutions and putting in place every conceivable measure to ensure transmission runs smoothly.
Each event demands a sophisticated workflow that can handle multiple feeds from multiple sports in multiple venues being transmitted together to the IBC. Each operation therefore requires careful planning and meticulous attention to detail, culminating in a series of dedicated Production Control Rooms with their own production teams. Elsewhere, we regularly provide project management and logistics support, and our onsite crews take care of engineering, audio, vision mixing, communications, editing and archiving, as well as provide 20/7 technical support.
Full-service production capability is on offer at Gravity Media’s Production Centres, which can deliver onsite or hybrid remote production solutions, and are configured for multi-platform delivery. HD studios, production galleries, commentary booths and edit suites deliver live world feed production, wraparound shows, big-screen content, social media clips, highlights packages and more. Our post-production teams offer end-to-end 4K production workflow, colour grading and motion graphics, and dedicated production talkback allows continuous communication with internal and external production operations.
